Wilfred was born in 1920. His birth was registered in his mother’s maiden name. He has an older brother, Ernest Alfred (1914-1963).

In 1922 his mother, Daisy Amelia Adeline Pettipher, married John Staine, who was 20 years her senior. At the time of the 1939 Register, John and Daisy were living at 56 Wathen Road with four other occupants (record redacted) one of whom was probably Wilfred.

 

 

Wilfred married Marian Winwood in Q3, 1945 – not long before his death in December.  He is buried in Austria
