Philip was born in Edmonton, Essex on 16th July 1923. He was the only son of William Philip (1893-1933) and Amy Gertrude (1896-1936) nee Lintern who had married in 1922. Both of Philip’s parents died before his 15th birthday.

In 1939, there was a Jordan family living at 66 Hanworth Road, Warwick. They consisted of Lillian (widow), three named sons, Ralph, Douglas and John and there are two redactions (crossed out names). Philip married Betty Violet Fowler in Orpington Kent in July 1942.

Philip’s wife, Betty, remarried and had two children. She died in 2019 aged 98.
