Westley’s parents were originally from Long Itchington, Warwickshire. Westley was born on 21st January 1917 in Manitoba, Canada, following the emigration of his parents Fountain Herbert and Louisa in 1912. The family returned In 1919, sailing into Liverpool on the Matagonna. The address they gave on the list of passengers was 14a Leam Terrace, Leamington Spa. Westley’s brother, Arthur, was born in 1919.
By 1939, Westley was living with his parents at 6 Thorn Yard, Southam, Warwickshire and working as a Railway Carter. His father is described as having ‘market garden work (heavy)’
He married Annie Gwendowlin Huckfield in Q3 1940. Annie’s family were living on the Saltisford, in Warwick
Westley’s father Fountain (sometimes known by his middle name of Hubert or Herbert), died in 1958 in Southam.
