Bert was baptised on 12th November 1885 at Warwick and was Samuel and Emma’s fourth son.
The family appear to have lived continuously at 47 Emscote Road between 1891 and 1911. At the time of the 1911 census, Bert, aged 25, was living with his parents, one older and three younger brothers and a sister at 47 Emscote Road. All of the children were in employment, even 14 year old Reginald, who was a Bookstall assistant.

Their father, Samuel, was employed as an Upholsterer. The census notes that the couple had 9 children, although one had not survived. An item in the Warwick Advertiser on 21st April 1917 stated that Mr & Mrs Wild had five sons and eight nephews serving with the colours.
