Christopher was born in January 1900 in Tarvin, a village near Chester. His father was Alfred Richmond Trafford and his mother Edith Annie Trafford. Christopher had one sister Ursula Leigh born in 1906. She became a teacher and married in 1942.
On the 1901 census the family were living in Ashton Hayes, Cheshire and Alfred was employed as a Bank Cashier. Ten years later, in 1911, the family had moved to Brighton and Alfred was now a Bank Manager. Alfred and Edith lived in Warwick for several years, then retired to Hove, Sussex where Edith died in 1936 and Alfred in 1937.

Christopher is buried in Warwick Cemetery and the inscription on his grave reads:
To the dear Memory of Cpl CHRISTOPHER LEIGH TRAFFORD only son of ALFRED AND EDITH TRAFFORD who died on September 14th 1919 from illness contracted during war service. Aged 19 years

In January 1918 Christopher was working as a Bank Clerk when he was called up and enlisted into the Army Pay Corps. He was discharged on 25th May 1919 because he was no longer physically fit for service.
His British Army WW1 Pension Record states that he had Tubercle of the Lung (Tuberculosis). Just four months later Christopher died at home in Warwick.
