Reginald George Simmonds was born in 1898 in Hove Sussex. His father Charles was a Postman. He had one older brother Charles Arthur. In 1901 the family was living in Winchester, Hampshire but in 1904 his parents divorced.
By 1911 Charles had moved to Warwick and was living with his sons and his second wife Florence Jane at 1 Park View, The Cape. They had been married for 4 years. Charles Snr was still working as a postman, Charles Jnr (15) was working as a milkman (deliverer for a dairyman) and Reginald (13) was still at school.
Charles Senior died on 25th May 1911 aged 38 and is buried in Warwick. The 1914 Spennells Trade Directory shows a Mrs F. Simmonds at 1 Park View offering apartments to rent.
