Frank Albert was born in Belfast on 1st June 1891. His father, also Frank, was a serving soldier based in Northern Ireland. Frank was baptised at the Garrison Chapel on 21st June 1891.

By the 1901 census Frank senior was an Army Pensioner living at 24 Mill Street, Warwick. This was a large family with eight chidren, six boys and two girls. In 1911 the family had moved to 25 Albert Street.

According to the 1914 Spennell’s Directory of Leamington Frank was working as a porter.
