George was born in Stratford upon Avon in January 1893. He was baptised on 24th April 1894. He was the only child of Thomas and Sarah Ann Nicholls.

In 1901, the family were living at 11 Humphriss Street, Emscote but by 1911 they had moved to 11 Victoria Terrace, Emscote, Warwick. George’s father was working as a Brewery Drayman and George was working as a Railway Company Clerk.

George was single because he left his effects to his ‘mother and sole legatee.’
