Harry was born in 1887 in Leamington Spa and was baptised at St John the Baptist Church on 15th February 1888. He had one older half brother George, a younger brother Ernest and sister Mabel. His father Thomas was a Bricklayer.

According to the 1911 census Harry had already joined the Warwickshire Regiment and was stationed at the Whittington Barracks Lichfield.

In October 1912 he married Olive Green in Warwick. They had four children, sadly all died young. Lucy, Albert and Bertie died as babies and the youngest Margaret born in 1916 died in 1926.

News of Harry’s death was reported in the Warwick Advertiser on 6th May 1916:

 

 

 

Olive married again, to Jack Lloyd in 1918. According to the 1939 census they were living at 107 Wathen Road and had two, possibly three, children. Olive died in Warwick in 1966 aged 71.

According to newspaper cutting Harry had served at a drummer in the Warwickshire Regiment for nearly 12 years when he died so joined in 1904/5.
