Alexander was baptised at St Paul’s Church on December 14th December 1898. His parents were Alexander and Lucy Emma.
Alexander senior died the following year in Warwick Infirmary, on 24th August 1899.
Lucy remarried, to John Turner, and in 1901 Alexander was living with his mother and step-father at 3 Market Street. He had two sisters Lucy Julia (5) and Sarah Beatrice (1). Also living at that address were his grandparents, George and Sarah Newey.
The 1911 census shows Alexander, aged 12, living with his grandmother, Sarah Newey at 7 Bowling Green Street. The Mrs Robbins mentioned in the Warwick Advertiser notice (below) is one of Lucy’s younger sisters, Sarah. She had married Henry (Harry) Robbins in 1897 and in 1911 they were living at No.5 Edwards Court, Market Street with their 3 surviving children.
