George was born Qtr3 1889 in Hinckley to parents John & Clara Brown.

The 1911 census shows George as a soldier at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield.

He married Alice Elizabeth Chambers in Warwick during Quarter 3 1912.  The couple already had a daughter, Nellie Chambers who had been born on 28th June 1905.  They had a further daughter, Alice Lilian on 27th March 1913.

The 1915 Spennell’s Trade Directory shows George’s widow as ‘Mrs Brown, book sewer, living at 7 Joyce Pool’.

Application for George to be included on the Warwick War Memorial but the applicant is not recorded:

George’s widow, Alice died in Warwick in November 1921 and is buried in Warwick Cemetery
