At the time of the 1891 census, John was the only son of John and Maria, living at the Co-operative stores on Queen Street Cubbington, where John was the baker. John Jnr. is recorded on the census as Edwin F. Bennett

At the time of the 1901 census Edwin F T Bennett is staying with his grandparents, Edwin and Caroline Bastock at 71 Offchurch Road, Cubbington, while John and Maria are living with their daughter Mildred (7) at Queen Street.

Between 1908 and 1910, John completed his training at Saltley College and was then employed as a teacher at Steward Street Council School.

By 1911, John and Maria are living with their son Cyril (8) at Queen Street and Mildred is living with her widowed grandfather Edwin Bastock but we have been unable to trace John Jnr.
