Ashmoore, Richard William

Richard William was born July 1889 and baptised August 4th 1889, at St Mary’s Church. His sister, Emily, was two years his senior.

In the 1891 census, the family were living at 9 (&38) Commercial Buildings, Saltisford. and the son, aged 3, is listed as William, not Richard.

His father and grandfather were both called Richard. In the 1901 census they are both listed as Brick Burners and lived in No.s 40 and 41 The Cape.

His mother Emily (nee Edkins) died in 1895 and neither of the children are listed as living with their father in 1901.

The Army Register of Soldiers Effects lists Richard’s next of kin as his Aunt, Mrs Ann Branson (nee Edkins),  although his  father was still alive in 1917. (He died, in Warwick, in 1936)
