George is the youngest person on the memorial. He was born in Hull, Yorkshire on 6th February 1902. His father was from Stockton-onTees, County Durham and his mother was from Thirsk in Yorkshire.
At the time of the 1911 census George was living with his parents and two younger sisters Nance (5) and Fannie (6 months) at 52 St Luke’s Road, Pallion, Sunderland where his father was working as an iron and steel dresser for a winch maker.
The 1919 Spennell’s Trade Directory lists Archibald Walker living at 9 Sidney Terrace on Lower Cape, Warwick
On his naval service record George was described as 5’ 6¾”, with brown eyes and a fair complexion.

George signed on at Shoreham on 3rd June 1918 and was assigned to the Victory. He was transferred to the Idaho on 4th September 1918.
