Quick, Albert

Albert was born in 1877 in Aylesbeare, Devon. He was one of seven children, four older and two younger. His father Samuel was a Farm Bailiff who died in 1884 at the age of 40.

By 1901 Albert and his younger brother William were living at 99 Emscote Road, both working as butchers.

In 1911 Albert was living with his sister, May, at 20 Leam Street. Later that year he married Alice Chamberlain born in 1888 in Hilmorton, Rugby. Before her marriage she was living with her parents at 6 Mass Street, Leamington working as an upholsterer. She was an only child.

The 1917 Spennell’s Directory shows Albert as a butcher at 21 Market Street, with ‘Mrs Quick’ listed next door at number 23 as a ‘pork butcher.’  Brother Samuel is at 34 Emscote Road and is also a butcher.

Albert left a sum of £175 5s 7d to his widow.
