Albert (Bert) was born in October 1892 and was baptised on the 17th November 1892 at St Mary’s Church, Warwick.

Bert was one of seven surviving children. He had two older brothers, John and Alfred, two older sisters, Lily and Edith and two younger brothers Percy and Frederick.

Bert’s mother, Mary Ann, was a house furnisher.  His father Frederick was a Police Sergeant and in 1911 had retired. He died at the age of 70 in June 1917 just 3 months before Bert was killed.
