Albert (Bert) was born in Banbury in 1891. His father George was his mother Thirza’s second husband. Her first husband, John Lowe Jones died, in 1883 aged 30. By 1901, the family had moved to Warwick and were living at 16 Bowling Green Street.
Thirza already had four children – Harry, Emma, Ernest and Ada -when she married George in 1888. Bert was the eldest of her seven children with George. He had four brothers Frank, Harold, Alick and Leonard and two sisters, Elsie and Winifred.
According to the 1911 census the family were living at 32 Coventry Road and Bert’s father was working as a railway goods checker. Bert aged 20 was a motor trimmer.

Thirza died in 1935 aged 75 and George in 1937 also aged 75.
