Frederick Charles Moon was born in Delhi, India and baptised there on 17th July 1878.

His father, William Joseph was a serving soldier.  His mother was Emma and his siblings were Victoria, Ada, John and Eva.

Emma died in 1888 and his father, William remarried. William and his wife Mary went on to have two children, Wilfred and Lillian.

Fred married Alice Jane Hudson in September 1903. By 1911, the family were living a 3 Mill Brook Cottages, Manor Road, Kenilworth and they had four children – Ada Annie (6), Frederick William (5), Charles Joseph Noel (4) and Emma (3).  The couple went on to have two more children John (Jack – born 1910) and Wilfred, who died as a young boy.

The family moved back to Warwick around 1912-13 and then resided at 8 Linen Street.

The following excerpt appeared in the Warwick Advertiser – this quotes from a letter from Lt Col C S Burt – a copy of which has been kindly supplied by Frederick’s Great Nephew, John Moon:

Fred was awarded a Military Medal.

His half brother, Wilfred, died 2 years earlier, and is also commemorated on Warwick War Memorial.
