George was born in Peshawar, India. At the time of the 1891 Census, His parents had returned to England and were living at 74 New Kent Road, Newington in London. George senior, aged 42, is recorded as an army pensioner and superintendent of model dwellings/estate agent. At that time George had 2 older siblings: Margaret (14) and Samuel (12) and 2 younger siblings: Violet (7) and Joseph (3).

George’s army records show that he was married to Catherine Hudson on 20th August 1904 in Leamington Spa and that his son and daughter were born in Warwick: George Trevor on 14th March 1905, Hilda Catherine on 4th December 1907.

At the time of the 1911 Census, all four of them were living at the Budbrooke Barracks, near Warwick and George is listed as a Colour Sergeant.

This court report from December 1916 tells us a little about the life of George junior and that the family were then living at Brook Street Warwick. It also suggests that the family hadn’t been informed of George’s death at that point.
