Jones, Archibald Edwin

Archibald was born in Warwick. He was baptised at All Saints Church on the 6th April 1893. He had one younger brother Montague Alfred.  His parents were Thomas and Emma (nee Power).

Archibald’s father was a Tram conductor. He was killed in a tram car accident in 1902 aged 32. Archibald’s mother remarried, her second husband was Frederick Hawkins. The notice of Archibald’s death, that appeared in the Warwick Advertiser on November 24th 1917, notes that his father was “killed whilst in charge of a tram car during the Boer War peace celebrations” but says nothing of Archibald himself.

In 1911 Archibald was living with his grandparents at 11 Charles Street and is described as single and as a ‘hotel servant.’  His grandfather is described as a ‘labourer at the gelatine factory’ (which will be Nelson Dale) at the grand age of 70.
