Patrick was born in Warwick on 6th September 1887. In 1901, aged 13, he was living at 19 Crompton Street with his father also Patrick, his mother Julia and a younger sister by two years Theresa. His father was a general labourer and his mother a nurse.

leven children had been born but only 5 were still living in 1911. There was an an older brother John, born in 1879 and a sister Ellen, born in 1880.

Patrick senior died in 1908 aged 57. In 1911 Patrick’s mother was living at 6 Northgate Street working as a sick nurse.

Julia died in 1927 aged 72.

Patrick enlisted in Caerphilly on 1st September 1914. He was sent to the Dardanelles, Turkey on 7th July1915.
