In 1911 Thomas was 20 and was a serving soldier as was his brother Louis, aged 17.

By that time his father, John had died leaving his mother  Mary, 65 and brothers William, 27,  a gardener, Percy, 25, a Brewery Labourer and Alfred, 11, a school boy

Thomas’ brothers – Louis and Percy, also fell

Sadly, this notice on 15th June 1918 was posted in the Deaths column, rather than under Roll of Honour:
