In 1911 Louis, aged 17 was serving as a soldier as was his brother Thomas (20).  By that time his father, John had died leaving his mother  Mary (65) and brothers William (27 – a gardener), Percy James (25 – a brewery labourer) and Alfred (11 – a school boy)

Mrs Greenway lost three sons to the war as Louis’ brothers, Percy and Thomas, also fell

Warwick Advertiser 28th October 1916 p14 – In Memoriam

“Greenway: In loving memory of Louis Walter Greenway, Rifle Brigade, killed in action October 30th 1914. Ever remembered by Mother Brothers and Sister.”

A similar message was placed in the Warwick Advertiser on 6th January 1917
