John was baptised at St Nicholas Church on 14th January 1877.

He married Edith Mary Claridge in Leamington on 31st July 1904

In 1911, John and his wife were living at 31 Wharf Street.  At the time there were three daughters – Ethel Eveline (5), Edith Luan (2) and Alice Elizabeth (4 months).

A later record shows two other daughters – Lallie Winifred and Florence Maud.

Warwick Advertiser – 1919:

‘Private JOHN HENRY GARRETT, aged 42 years on 11th February  1919 – died from disease contracted whilst on active service. He died at 31 Wharf Street.  Mourned by Wife Edith, and children’
