Frank was baptised at St Nicholas Church, Warwick on 23rd May 1897. At the time his parents lived on Guy Street and his father worked as a sawyer.

By 1901 the family, consisting of James and Sarah, James Jnr (14, a Telegraph Messenger), Emily (11), Philip (8) and Frank (4) were living on Longbridge Road.

At the time of the 1911 census, the family was living at the Borough Council sewage works where James Snr. was an engine driver. The household consisted of James and Sarah, Emily (a dressmaker), Philip (a printer), Frank (a carpenter) and 1-year-old Harry.

Frank’s brother Philip also died
