We were unable to determine who this person was until we found the following Shrine Slip in Warwick County Record Office:

Job was born in the 2nd quarter of 1895 and baptised at St Mary’s Church on 2nd June 1895. in Warwick

1911 Census records show the following details for Job’s family:

Their address is 91 Saltisford and the father is William Edward (54) and mother Harriett (45).  William is a Barge Boatman

Job is 16 and described as “assistant in the work” – presumably of his father.  His older brother William H. (19) is also described in this way.  The other members of the household are Florence Jane (25), Thomas (11), Harry (8), Harriett (7), and a nephew Frederick Job (1 year 7 months).

The nephew, Frederick Job is the son of Frederick Job Snr and Ann (nee Willoughby) and presumed to be visiting the household on census day.

The 1901 census shows two further family members Mary – who at the time was 13 and two years younger than Florence – and William E. (3 years old).  This is slightly strange as there were two Williams, both recorded as sons, on the same census.

Job died at home on 9th October 1916- as he was unable to serve abroad.  He is buried at St Mary’s, Warwick.

Job enlisted at Warwick on 20th March 1914  and was stationed at Parkhurst Isle of Wight.  On 6th October of the same year he was diagnosed with ‘tubercle of the lung’ and was subsequently discharged on 9th November 1914 as he was unfit to serve.
