Drinkwater, Henry (Harry)

Although Harry’s age at death is given as 26, which would give a date of birth of 1890, no age at death is given on the CWGC memorial and it seems likely that he was the Henry Drinkwater who was born to George and Sarah Drinkwater in c.1891, when they were living at Queen Street, Leamington Spa. Henry was baptised on 28th June 1891 at St Paul’s.

In the 1901 census, George and Sarah were living at New Milverton, Leamington Spa with their sons George (14) and Harry (9). George senior, who was born in Ashorne, a village south of Warwick, was working as a groom and George junior as a stable boy.

In the 1911 census, George, Sarah and Harry were living on Chapel Street, Harbury where George continued to be employed as a groom and Harry, aged 19, was employed as a stable boy.

George and Sarah are buried in Warwick’s Birmingham Road Cemetery. Sarah died in 1928, aged 67 and George in 1945, aged 84. At the time of their deaths they were living at Cherry Street, Warwick.
