Arthur was born in early 1879 and baptised at St Paul’s Church on 2nd February 1879. His father is shown on the baptism records as a policeman.
The 1881 census shows the family living at 75 Friars Street, Warwick and shows Arthur had three siblings – William (age 9), Fanny (age 7) and Harry (age 5). All of the family, with the exception of Harry are shown on the 1891 census, and they had moved to Victoria Cottage, Upper Cape, Warwick. Father William is still employed as a policeman.
By 1911, Arthur is living with his mother only (his father died in 1900) at 6a Radford Cottage, Radford Road, Leamington Spa. Rinah (now spelling her name Rhyna) is described as a sick nurse and Arthur as a musician.

Arthur died on 13th July 1915 in Gallipoli. He is commemorated at the Helles Memorial in Turkey. He is also remembered on his father’s grave in Warwick Cemetery although the inscription mistakenly says that he was killed in France.
