Smith, Arthur Quartermaine
Age: 33
Date of birth: 17th April 1909
Parents: Arthur and Emily Smith
Wife: Margaret Ethel Smith
Address: 43 Victoria Street, Warwick
Occupation: Tea salesman
Arthur was born in Maidenhead, Berkshire on 17th April 1909 to Arthur and Emily Smith. According to the 1911 census Arthur was living in Maidenhead with his mother and father and a sister Constance May Smith born in 1905. His father’s occupation was a compositor.
Berkshire electoral registers show Arthur living in Maidenhead from 1932 to 1938 but in 1939 Arthur was living with his wife Ethel (known by her second name as Margaret) at 43 Victoria Street, Warwick. His occupation is given as tea salesman. One record is redacted but there were also two eleven year olds staying at the house – Mary Rowe and Marguerite Pickles. They may have been relatives or possibly evacuees – any information would be most welcome.
