Mancini, Angelo Antoni

Angelo was born in Warwick on 20th April 1907. According to the 1911 census he was living with his family at 69 Pickard Street. His father Guiseppe (1853-1933), was born in Italy. He was working as an ice cream vendor and was also a musician and played the accordion. Angelo and his brother Joseph also took up this instrument and appear to have been very accomplished

Angelo’s mother Laura was Guiseppe’s second wife and she was born in about 1874 in Lyford, Oxfordshire. Angelo was the youngest of seven children, five boys Erneste (1893-1952), Antonio (1899-1949), Carlo (1900-1952) and Guiseppe known as Joseph (1902-1982). The two girls were Dorothy, born in 1897 and Marietta, born in 1904. He also had two older half brothers, Vittorio (1877-1952) and Tomasso. Angelo was educated at St Mary’s Roman Catholic School in Warwick.

Angelo married Dorothy M Hunt in Warwick in 1929. They had three children who were aged 9, 3 and 12 months at the time of his death. His wife  placed  this Acknowledgement in the Warwick Advertiser on 10th May 1940
