Holton, (Holtom) Alfred Henry

Age: 30
Date of birth: c1912

Parents: John Horace and Lucy Edith Harriet Wilson nee Holtom
Wife: Not known
Address: 37 Gerard Avenue, Coventry

Occupation: Not known

Alfred appears as Holton on the War Memorial but this public notice shows that he used the surname Holtom.

His mother Lucy Edith Harriet Holtom was born in Warwick but in 1911 she was an ‘inmate’ at St Pancras Workhouse, Streatham Hill, London under the name of Holton. We think that Alfred may have been born in the workhouse and his mother then returned to Warwick with her son.

Lucy later went on to marry John Horace Wilson (1896-1970) in 1918 in Warwick and they had a daughter, Winifred H (1924-1983).

By 1939 the family, without Alfred, were living at 37 Gerard Avenue, Coventry. Step father, John, was a Railway Carter. We have not been able to trace Alfred after this date and would welcome any information from members of the public.

Alfred’s sister, Winifred married James Edmondson in Q4, 1945 in Lancashire. She died in Warwick in 1983.
