Harry was born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire in the first quarter of 1918. We know from his CWGC record that his father was called Ernest but have been unable to find any other information about his parents.

Harry married Betty Phyllis Hope in Warwick in 1941. They had one son Robert Harry Hill. Despite his marriage, probate was granted to his father Ernest who was living at 37 Lyttleton Road, Warwick at that time.

Robert died aged just 22 in 1964. His address at the time of his death was 84 Greville Road, Warwick and he was a secretary. Robert’s mother (Harry’s wife) must have married again as Robert left his estate to Betty Phyllis Evans.
