Giles, Frederick William (Bill)
Age: 25
Date of birth: 1919
Parents: Sidney Giles and Mary Parker nee Marshall ex Giles
Wife:
Address: 24 Lyttleton Road, Warwick
Occupation: Capstan Lathe Hand at Lockheed Brake Company in Leamington
Frederick (Bill) was born in 1919 in Warwick. His parents were Sidney and Mary (nee Marshall) who had married in 1914. Bill had an older sister, Jessie Winifred (1915-1999). His parents divorced and his mother remarried – to Arthur Aubrey Parker.
The 1939 Register shows Bill living with his mother and step father at 24 Lyttleton Road, Warwick. He now had four half siblings. Two of the records are redacted (crossed out) but the two remaining entries are for Arthur Aubrey (junior – born 1923) and Raymond (born 1926). Arthur is listed as a general labourer in the building trade and Bill himself works as a Capstan Lathe worker.
We have heard from Jamie Parker and he has confirmed that his grandfather Ronald (born 1930) was another half brother of Bill’s and that there was also a younger half sister, Frances (born 1931). This accounts for the two redactions in the 1939 Register.
